Analysis process at Sequencing.com
Step 1: Order the kit or upload your DNA data

Order a mouth swab kit from the official Sequencing.com website, or upload your raw DNA data for free if you already have it.
Step 2: Receive and activate the kit
The kit will be delivered to your home within 5 days. It contains 2 swabs, a storage vial, and prepaid packaging. To activate it, go to sequencing.com/activate and enter the kit ID number found at the bottom right of the instruction manual.
Step 3: Collect and return your DNA sample
Rub the inside of each cheek (one minute per cheek) with the swabs, then place them in the vial. Return the sample to the laboratory using the prepaid packaging provided. The sample collection is painless and quick.
Step 4: Processing and results
Once received, the DNA is extracted, purified, sequenced, and validated in the laboratory under strict quality controls. For our test, we chose the Ultra Fast option (results in 2 weeks in our private area). If you prefer to avoid additional costs, opt for the standard service (results in 10 to 12 weeks).
Reliability of Sequencing.com results
Whole genome sequencing is performed in the United States in CLIA-certified and CAP-accredited laboratories. The raw data is then processed by Sequencing.com’s bioinformatics pipeline to generate DNA reports.
Rigorous quality controls are applied at every stage to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results.
To assess reliability, we compared the results with those from Nebula Genomics and MyHeritage DNA. The genetic profiles obtained show near-perfect agreement, but with more detail, reinforcing our confidence in this service.
Focus on the applications available on Sequencing.com

Sequencing.com’s strength lies in its ecosystem of specialized applications. Here is an overview of the platform’s internal tools and key technologies:
- Next-Gen Disease Screen (free tool from Sequencing.com): analyzes your genetic risk for over 15,000 diseases. Compatible with all DNA tests, it transforms your data into actionable health reports. The Premium and Professional versions offer automatic updates (up to weekly) for up-to-date genetic tracking.
- Genome Explorer V3: the first online genetic browser. This mobile app lets you explore your genome in detail, access your genetic variants, predispositions, and drug responses. You can search, sort, filter, and analyze your data by genes, diseases, chromosomes, or variant types.
- Health Scan (included with Premium and Pro subscriptions): continuously monitors your genome in light of the latest scientific discoveries. Every week, the app analyzes hundreds of studies and alerts you to genetic variations related to your DNA. It is compatible with all DNA data, but works best with whole genome sequencing.
In addition to these apps, you can purchase options starting at $59 such as: Ozempic and GLP-1 Agonist, MTHFR DNA Wellness Report).

User reviews of Sequencing.com
On Trustpilot, Sequencing.com has an excellent rating of 4.5/5 (571 reviews), reflecting high overall satisfaction. Let’s analyze the testimonials to understand the real experiences of users.
Positive reviews of Sequencing.com

Users praise the responsiveness and efficiency of customer service. DNA reports are considered rich, clear, and accessible. Many appreciate the reliability of the results and transparency, especially for obtaining concrete answers about the origin of diseases or family predispositions.
Negative reviews on sequencing.com

Some users regret the high costs and additional fees (paid subscriptions, expedited processing) that are not always clearly advertised.
Significant delays are reported, sometimes up to four months for results without a paid expedited option.
Critics also point to a confusing or slow interface and features that stop working after the trial period.
Sequencing.com customer service: is it up to scratch?
Sequencing.com customer service can be contacted via:
- 📧 Email: support@sequencing.com
- 📞 Phone: 1-833-544-0001 (toll-free, Mon-Fri, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. EST)
- Online chat
We contacted customer service via online chat and received a response in less than 5 minutes in French. The exchange was quick and friendly, and we spoke with a real support representative who was attentive and precise. We appreciate this level of responsiveness and attentiveness, which is rare for a service dealing with such sensitive data.
Our opinion on Sequencing.com
We were curious to see what Sequencing.com was really worth, beyond the marketing promises. After an in-depth exploration, here is our honest opinion.
A reliable source of genetic data, but not very useful for ancestry
Thanks to whole genome sequencing, you get a detailed view of your health and predispositions, which is useful for understanding your family history.
However, Sequencing.com is not effective at tracing ancestry.
The reports are limited, often provided by third parties, and not always clear. If you are looking for a DNA test to explore your origins, other services are more suitable.
Good compatibility with major DNA labs
We appreciate Sequencing.com’s extensive compatibility with major genealogy labs and the ability to import raw DNA files for free. While others accept GEDCOM files, Sequencing.com is, to our knowledge, the only one to offer such broad integration. This is a great way to get more out of a test you’ve already taken.
The largest library of DNA apps and reports
We liked Sequencing.com’s extensive ecosystem of apps (health, nutrition, genealogy, etc.). Few companies offer such a wide variety of tools for using your DNA data.
However, this wealth of options can be confusing for beginners, as there are so many choices and some features require additional payment. We found some of the applications uninteresting, but this diverse catalog remains a real plus for those who want to explore their DNA from every angle.
Reliable, usable results, but expensive
Sequencing.com focuses on quality with whole genome sequencing, guaranteeing reliable and ultra-detailed results. However, the kits are exorbitantly priced. Few people can afford such an investment for DNA sequencing, especially since additional fees are added depending on the delivery time.
The investment remains significant and not always accessible, even with discounts. Nevertheless, the depth of analysis partly offsets this cost.
Sequencing.com vs Nebula Genomics
Nebula Genomics analyzes DNA at a depth of 100x (compared to 30x at Sequencing.com) and detects genetic variants not identified by other WGS tests. Its price is also more attractive (standard package around $94, compared to $400 for Sequencing).
Sequencing.com compensates with its extensive ecosystem of DNA applications. If the goal is raw, reliable analysis, Nebula Geneomics scores a point. For user experience, Sequencing takes the lead.
Sequencing.com vs MyHeritage DNA
MyHeritage DNA only analyzes autosomal DNA (ancestry), allowing you to create a family tree and identify close genetic cousins. However, if you’re interested in genetic health, rare diseases, or pharmacogenetics, Sequencing.com offers a much broader spectrum.
Choose MyHeritage to find cousins, and Sequencing to understand your genome in detail beyond your origins.
Sequencing.com vs AncestryDNA
Sequencing.com is superior for comprehensive health genetic analysis, while AncestryDNA excels in genealogy and genetic traits thanks to its extensive database and family tree tools.
Choose AncestryDNA to discover your ethnic origins, DNA matches, and historical records; and Sequencing.com for more in-depth results.
Sequencing.com vs Dante Labs
Dante Labs and Sequencing.com both offer 30x whole genome sequencing. However, Sequencing.com remains more affordable on its standard offering and includes a rich marketplace to explore your data.
Dante Labs offers over 150 personalized reports right out of the gate, but without automatic updates. At Sequencing.com, new reports are released regularly, allowing you to delve deeper into your data.
FAQ: Answers to your questions about Sequencing.com
Yes, Sequencing.com ships its DNA kits worldwide free of charge. Please note that return shipping costs (customs and VAT) are your responsibility if you live outside the US.
